✦ Synopsis

Abstract

The configurations of the two 1‐isopropyl‐4‐methylcyclohexanes (para‐menthanes) were determined by means of syntheses starting from pure cis‐and pure trans‐4‐methylcyclohexanecarboxylic acid.

## Abstract The preparation of pure low‐melting 4‐isopropylcyclohexanecarboxylic acid (m.p. 40–41°) is described for the first time. It was isolated from mixtures of the low‐melting and the high‐melting isomer, making use of the fact that only the latter gives an inclusion compound with thiourea.

## Abstract The preparation of pure low‐melting 4‐methylcyclohexanecarboxylic acid (m.p. 30.5‐31.5°) is described for the first time. By chemical means it is proved that low‐melting 4‐methylcyclohexanecarboxylic acid possesses the __cis__‐configuration and the high‐melting isomer the __trans__‐con
