✦ Synopsis

The nitration of 1,4-di(2,4,6-trinitrophenyl)naphthalene and 1,5di(2,4,6-trinitrophenyl)naphthalene and of mono-and dinitro-derivatives of these compounds has been studied with a view to obtaining heat resistant materials of high energy. A number of mono-, di-and trinitro derivatives of 1,4-di(2,4,6-trinitrophenyl) and 1,5-di(2,4,6-trinitrophenyl)naphthalenes have been prepared.
