The essential oils produced from 9 dierent cultivars of Ocimum basilicum L. were analysed by GC±MS, and classi®ed into ®ve cultivar groups. The oil from a local cultivar in the Philippines, rich in estragol, was examined in more detail by solvent extraction, distillation and column chromatography wh
