The structure of Bi 2 Al 4 O 9 has been re5ned using a combination of X-ray and high-resolution neutron powder di4raction. Iterative simulation of the 27 Al MAS solid state NMR data con5rms the presence of two Al sites, one octahedral and one tetrahedral, in an approximate 1:1 ratio. The structure o

## Modulated structures of the Bi-2212 and Bi-4413 superconductors have been studied using the supercell five times enlarged in the b-direction. Brief comparison have been made of the modulated structures.
A new type of crystal of glycylglycine (GlyGly) hydrate was crystallized from an aqueous solution, and the structure of the crystal has been determined by x-ray diffraction. The crystal is monoclinic, and the space group is C2/c, with the cell constants of a Γ 15.941(2) A Λ, b Γ 4.774(2) A Λ, c Γ 19
