In the title salt, C~11~H~18~N~4~ ^2+^·2C~6~H~2~N~3~O~7~ ^−^·C~2~H~3~N, the dihedral angle between the imidazolium rings in the dication is 74.4 (2)°, and the benzene rings of the two independent picrate anions are almost parallel, with a dihedral angle of 12.0 (1)° between them.
