Raman spectra were obtained on a Romanor-1000 spectrometer with a laser excitation source (Xexci t = 514.5 nm, S = 500 ~). Solid phase samples Ia, e, f (20 mg) were mixed with KBr (200 mg) and pressed. The liquid sample IIe was recorded neat.
## Abstract Several new 3βarylβ5βcyanopyrazolo[3,4β__b__]pyridines were easily prepared from 3βaminoβ5βarylpyrazoles and Ξ±βcyanochalcones. Structural analysis using NMR solution studies revealed the 2__H__βtautomers as the preferred tautomer in solution (DMSOβd~6~). Xβray diffraction confirmed the
