## Abstract The Raman spectra of GeS single crystals are investigated in the temperature interval 20 to 300 K. The possible origin of new features observed at low temperatures is discussed. A new assignment of the off‐diagonal B~1g~ and B~3g~ modes is proposed.

Large single crystals of the compound LaBO~2~MoO~4~, undoped and doped with Nd^3+^ ions, were grown. Their multi-wavelength Stokes and anti-Stokes picosecond generation, nonlinear-laser effects, and neodymium IR luminescence were investigated. We classify these crystals as a promising material for R
