Both the cis and rruns nng junctions can he generated solechvely in hydrindane, decalin and stercnd systems by the palladium-catalyzed regioselectwe and stereospeafic decarboxylation-hydrogenolysis of allyhc formates. The trans Junctions were formed from 3p allylic formates of decalin and steroid and 5p allyhc formates of hydrmdane. The corresponding 3a and Sa formates generate the CIS rmg Junction
