Stereoselective construction of aldol adducts having tertiary alcohol at the a position was achieved via a titanium(IV) enolate derived from a lactate derivative with an Evans chiral auxiliary. The stereochemistry at a-tertiary alcohol could be controlled by selecting the protective group of the starting lactate.
