The swelling and dissolution of heat-& nylon 6 fiber in aqueoum eulfuric acid were examined. Stesm-set fiber having good dyeability swelle with much more difficulty than the dry-heat-aet and umet fibers. Similar phenomena are seen in the examination of dedty of .nylon 6 fiber eubjected to heat eetting, and it is found that the resistance to ew&g depends on the crystalline region rather than on the amorphous region.

Water adsorption of nylon 6 fibers subjected to various heat-aetting treatments waa measured over the range of &SO% R.H. with a quartz balance, and the water adsorbed on the 6rat layer (urn) waa calculated. The value of urn waa largest for uneet fibr, intermediate for steam-eet fiber, and the smalle
