โœฆ Synopsis

Statistical properties of momentum transfer in two-phase flow* s. L. soot (Rccciwa 28 April, lQ55) Abetract-The momentum transfer in a two-phase stream, combating of particle8 carried by a fluid, was studied by applyiug the stati&ical theory of turbulence. Stati&ical relations showed that the con&tion, scale and intensity of one phase can be calculated from those of the other phase. Approximate solution indicatea the basic parameters affecting momentum transfer.

THE characteristics of momentum transfer in a two-phase stream consisting of liquid or solid particles in a gas, or solid particles in a liquid, is of fundamental interest in the following fields of study and techniques of measurement :

Heat transfer measurements for the two-phase flow of water/air and gas-oil/air mixtures in a vertical tube are described. Much attention has been given to the contribution of the heat-transfer section of the tube and the thermocouples for measurements of its wall temperatures so as to obtain accura

## Abstract The apparent differences between the momentum balance and energy balance derivation for the case of twoโ€phase flow are resolved by examination of the liquid holdup within the system.
