## Stark measurements on the 25935 cm-' triplet state of s-t&zinc at 4.2'K show that it is electroni~lly dewncrate. The magnitude of the Stark splitting parameter CL = 0.71 debye (splitting is 2crEeff) is about 30% less than that of singlet 'E" at 30014 cm-' (with Eetf = l.SE). I 'ram these result

✦ Synopsis
The lowest singlet state of &riazine is characterized as 'E" arising fro? k' -+ err promotion (II+ IC*). The state has angular morn&turn corresponding tog = 0.24. The state is also subject to a fkst+nier Stark effect (a = 0.53D) due to electric field induced interactions of 2s and 2p eIectrons. we report on the elect& and magnetic field splittings, and a brief theoretical description of these effects.
