โœฆ Synopsis

Several stability criteria for structure systems with noncolocated acceleration, velocity and displacement feedback are developed. The criteria are derived in terms of the structure inertia, damping, stiffness matrices. sensor/actuator placement and feedback control gain such that the closed loop stability can be guaranteed. In addition to the passive check for closed loop system stability, design guidelines for actuator;sensor placement and control law selection in noncolocated structural control systems are provided

The unique advantages of noncolocated feedback include (1) the control law can provide a much greater latitude for tuning the closed loop system natural frequencies, (2) the energy transfer between the vibration modes becomes possible, and (3) the flutter instability, if it exists, can be minimized.
