Twenty species of planktonic rotifers were important in Lake Biel during 1978 . Eight species were present throughout the year, four species occurred only in spring and eight species in summer or autumn . Rotifer numbers attained two major maxima, one in May (19 .3 106 ind . m2) and one in August (1

Abstract
The dynamics of planktonic rotifer in Laguna Ezquerra (Rio Negro, Argentina) was studied from October 1988 to March 1989, in relation to food resources and cladoceran populations. During the spring and summer period, total rotifer density differed markedly. In spring rotifer populations remained at low density and an inverse relationship with cladoceran biomass was found. In contrast, in summer, the rotifer densities increased greatly and a positive relationship with cladoceran biomass was observed. Food resources decreased during mid January and this seemed to give rotifers a competitive advantage over cladocerans. Bosmina longirostris and Ceriodaphnia dubia were both present during the spring, but only Bosmina prevailed in summer. The composition of cladoceran assemblages together with food resources seem to be an important factor in rotifer dynamics.

Seasonal changes of species diversity (H r ) and average spatial overlap (Oik) of planktonic rotifers in a mesotrophic lake were examined with respect to their dependence on habitat diversity (H h ) and on a predator (Asplanchna herricki) . The phytoplankton dynamics of Laguna Ezquema (Rio Negro, Argentina) was analysed on the basis of high frequency sampling, each 3-4 days during a spring-summer period, in relation to physical factors and to the zooplankton community structure. The phytoplankton biomass presented a marked seasonality,
The quantitative succession of the spring and summer rotifer plankton and its biomass in six lakes of the Eastern Rift Valley of Kenya is discussed . The lakes can be divided into two groups : the low conductivity slightly alkaline lakes Naivasha, Oloidien and the Winam Gulf of Lake Victoria ; and t
## Abstract Species composition, abundance, and spatial distribution of rotifer and crustacean zooplankton were studied in Lake Ziway from late April to early July 2004. A total of 49 rotifer species was recorded, with __Anuraeopsis fissa, Brachionus angularis, Filinia novaezealandiae,__ and __Tri
Colonization and succession of benthic macroinvertebrates in Arcadia Lake, an urban reservoir, were studied for four years . Physicochemical conditions including water temperature, dissolved oxygen concentration, pH, specific conductance, and Secchi disc depth were also recorded . Colonization of th
