โœฆ Synopsis

Remember it well! The achiral sodium salt of poly(4-carboxyphenyl isocyanide) (poly-1-Na) folds into a onehanded helix induced by optically active amines in water, which remains when the amines are completely removed. Further modification of the side groups is possible without loss of memory of macromolecular helicity.

Holey phosphines! The end capping of triethynylphosphine with bulky groups results in the creation of ligands with a large cavity in which the phosphorus lone-pair electrons are located. The novel coordination properties of these ligands lead to a rate-accelerating effect in the rhodium-catalyzed hy

Nothing in it! Composite hollow spheres of TiO 2 (shown), BaTiO 3 , and SrTiO 3 with varied crystalline phases and compositions can be synthesized under mild conditions. The sulfonated polystyrene gel templates used ensure that the crystalline hollow spheres grow without damage to their shells.
