A repeatable procedure for in uitl-o fertilization of rabbit ova in which the percentage of ova fertilized is consistently high has been developed. When ova were recovered and subsequently incubated i n viho with capacitated spermatozoa at 37" or 39Β°C levels of ova fertilized were 15, 24 and 28% whe

β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
Proteinase activity was found to be present along the sides of sperm penetration tunnels through the zonae pellucidae of rabbit ova using silverβproteinate staining techniques. This is the first direct confirmation of the generally accepted concept of sperm penetration by proteinase release and digestion of the zona pellucida.

Epididymal mink (Mustela vison) sperm were inseminated into the uterine horns of ferrets (Mustela f w o ) at various times before or after ovulation which was induced by intraperitoneal injection of H.C.G. The Fallopian tubes or uterine horns of each animal were examined at different times. The ova
## Abstract Ovulated ova in cumulus masses were obtained from rabbits following isoimmunization with rabbit sperm. They were inseminated in vitro with capacitated sperm, cultured and examined for cleavage and cumulus dispersion. In five experiments only 11 of the 81 (13.6%) ova from the immunized f
## Abstract Acrosomal proteinase was found to be present in a highly organized distribution within the acrosomes of rabbit spermatozoa by cytochemistry. This distribution consists of at least six linear loops of evenly spaced proteinase granules, which run diagonally across the flat side of the spe
Mammalian eggs are surrounded by two egg coats: the cumulus oophorus and the zona pellucida, which is an extracellular matrix composed of sulfated glycoproteins. The first association of the spermatozoon with the zona pellucida occurs between the zona glycoprotein, ZP3 and sperm receptors, located a
