An investigation of the X-ray photoelectron spectra of single crystals of SrLaAlO 4 grown at various oxygen pressures is reported. Light yellow crystals were obtained at pressure of oxygen lower than about 5×10 -4 atm while green colored crystals at oxygen pressure higher than 5×10 -3 atm. The obtai

## Abstract Yb^3+^‐doped Ca~4~Gd~0.5~Y~0.5~O(BO~3~)~3~ single crystals with good optical quality have been grown by the Czochralski method. The grown crystal was characterized using X‐ray powder diffraction. The polarized absorption and emission spectra and fluorescence lifetime of anisotropic mono
