✦ Synopsis
prepared and investigated by means of spectroscopic (u.v., vis., near i.r., far-i.r.), magnetic and e.p.r. measurements. The results indicate for aN the complexes a distorted tetrahedral configuration, the complexes of the N,N'-dimethy@iperazinium dication being more distorted than those of the N-methylpiperidinium cation. A series based on the hydrogen bonding ability of the counter cation, which takes into account counter cations as molpholinium, piperidinium qnd piperazinium and some of their derivatives, is also proposed.

## Abstract The didehydro[n]annulenes **1** (n = 14), **2** (n = 18), and **3** (n = 22) are oxidized to radical cations. Reduction of the title compounds leads to radical anions and, in the case of **2** and **3**, to radical trianions. The hyperfine data of the paramagnetic derivatives are ration
