Raman spectra of glassy aqueous rare earth chlonde solutrons are re orted. A drastic change of frequency in the 2+totally symmetnc stretching viiration (ur) for the Ln(H2O)r ions (Ln rare earth ran) is observed between Sm and Cd and 1s mterpreted as endence for a change in the mner-sphere hydration

โฆ Synopsis
Salts of the [Nb(CN),j 4-ion have been studied at room temperature in magnetically dilute powders by electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy. The spectra indicate two distinct configurations, each classifiable as dodecahedral. The relationship of these two structures to crystallographically known octa-cyan0 configurations is briefly discussed, and a new interpretation of thee.p.r. spectraofthe[Nb(CNJ8j4ion in frozen solutions is also suggested,
