โœฆ Synopsis

We develop a Fourier type analysis for data consisting of many short strings (X_{1}, X_{2}, \ldots, X_{n}), with (X_{i}=\left(X_{i 1}, \ldots, X_{i p}\right)). The paper offers an approach to testing and residual analysis based on a group theoretic decomposition of the sample space. This is illustrated on a physical chance type data set where it is natural to allow each string to have its own parameter (i.i.d. coin-tossing with parameter varying from string to string). The usual model is rejected. 1994 Academic Press, Inc.

For a range of beam dynamics problems, high-precision measurement of frequency, amplitude and phase of a beam oscillation mode is required. The problem of extraction of oscillation modes from a series of equally time-spaced data samples is studied. Discrete Fourier Transform and methods of its refin

Longitudinal data from twin pairs may be used to determine how the genetic effects influencing a quantitative trait change with age. Here a model for mixed longitudinal data of Huggins and Loesch [1998] on unrelated individuals is extended to twin studies. The model is fitted using robust statistica
