✦ Synopsis
The mechanism of the unique and specific association of a given amino acid to its t.-ltNA is investigated by theoretical methods. Several possible schemes are proposed t.o explain specificit.y. The physical forces which act wit.hin these mechanisms are illustrated by t,he computer simulation of probable int, eract.ions between glycine and nricleot, ide bases and base pairs. It is demonstrated that, glycine has direct and selective affinities for the riucleot, ide bases and 1 hat. these interact, ioris are principally determined by t,he polar groups. Energies have been oitlculat,ed for the int, eractioti of glycine wit.h several base pairs. From these, t.he possibility t,hat. spec:ificit,y arises t,hrough direct, complexing of an amino acid with its ant, icodon is evaluated.

Using the simulated annealing technique we re-examine the role played by the minimization of the physicochemical distances between amino acids during the origin of the organization of the genetic code. The results are discussed in the context of the various hypotheses proposed to explain how amino a
## Abstract A specific interaction between an electron acceptor A and an electron donor D can be at the origin of the formation of ions. In most cases however the ions are not A^−^ and D^+^ but their formation results from the weakening of a chemical bond in the electron acceptor molecule as a cons
The synonym quotas within the genetic code for the 20 common amino acids are examined in relation to the ways in which these amino acids can be marshalled into different sets on the basis of shared physico-chemical properties. This reveals which shared properties are encouraged or discouraged during
Up-to-date knowledge is not yet enough to prove or reject completely one of the leading alternative hypotheses considering external or internal origin of the genetic code organization (term "internal" means a peculiarity of amino acids and nucleotides which can propose some logical basis for explana
