A Head and Neck Sarcoma Registry was established by the Society of Head and Neck Surgeons to review treatment results of a rare tumor by surgeons with special interest in this anatomic site. Two hundred fourteen patients were analyzed. There were 194 adult tumors and 20 pediatric tumors. The major s

โฆ Synopsis
T h e superficial triangles and the fascially defined spaces of the head and neck are two methods of localizing pathologic lesions in this region. The triangles of the neck provide superficial anatomic relations for disease processes. The spaces of the head and neck, popularized by the advent of computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanning, provide anatomic relations at all depths and define compartments through which disease processes can extend, as well as define the differential diagnosis of mass lesions arising within an individual compartment. A thorough understanding of the spaces and triangles of the head and neck allows the head and neck surgeon to correlate the radiologic findings with the surgical approach to a mass lesion in the head and neck. This unique approach to the anatomy of the head and neck is described herein.
