The velocity of sound in water was measured up to 700~ and 300 MPa. A classical pulse method has been used. The frequency was typically 5 MHz. The mean accuracy of the data is 0.5% of the velocity. The greatest error in velocity is due to the uncertainty in the temperature measurements at high press
