The real-time ultrasound images of the head of the pancreas in 93 children, and those of the body of the pancreas in 143 children, were analyzed to determine the normal size. Ultrasound images were obtained by sagittal scanning at the epigastrium and the long axis and the short axis of the oval cros

β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
Purpose
Our goal was to establish the range of sonographic measurements of normal gallbladders in children.
Methods
Six hundred ten children aged 0β16 years (male:female ratio, 1.5:1) with normal clinical and laboratory findings were included in this study. The sonographic parameters were the length, width, and calculated volume of the gallbladder, and the clinical parameters were the age, height, weight, and body surface area of the children. Statistical significance was determined through correlation and regression analyses.
Results
The length of the gallbladder showed significant positive correlations with age (r = 0.65), height (r = 0.67), weight (r = 0.63), and body surface area (r = 0.65; p < 0.01). The calculated volume of the gallbladder also showed moderate correlations with age (r = 0.53), height (r = 0.55), weight (r = 0.61), and body surface area (r = 0.57; p < 0.01). The gallbladder width showed modest but significant correlations with age (r = 0.48), height (r = 0.53), weight (r = 0.53), and body surface area (r = 0.55; p < 0.01). The highest correlation coefficients were found between the gallbladder length and subject age (r = 0.65; p < 0.01) and between the gallbladder length and subject height (r = 0.67; p < 0.01). For all correlations, statistical significance remained after regression analysis (p < 0.01).
Conclusions
Values for the size of the normal pediatric gallbladder are defined and will be helpful in the diagnosis of gallbladder abnormalities. Β© 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Clin Ultrasound 31:80β84, 2003

## Abstract ## Purpose The aim of this study was to compare the value of absolute and relative renal length (ARL and RRL, respectively) measurements in determining variations in normal kidney size related to sex, body height, and increasing age among patients older than 60 years. ## Methods Kidn
I ncisional hernia is a true iatrogenic hernia. Its formation is a common complication of abdominal and flank wounds, but it is extremely rare that the gallbladder is the organ involved. We describe a case in which protrusion of the gallbladder through the endoabdominal fascia was demonstrated by so
The aim of this study was to determine whether we could measure exhaled nitric oxide (NO) levels in children, and whether the same pattern of exhaled NO concentrations was observed in asthmatic and normal children as had been seen in adults. Using a chemiluminescence NO analyzer, we measured NO in e
## Abstract A study to determine the variability of PIP joint size measurements was performed among 24 normal adults. Joint size measurements were shown to be reproducible to within 2 mm, irrespective of the times at which they are taken. Size of the joint, age, sex, and menses had no significant e
