The main structure of a lipopolysaccharide R-type core oligosaccharide common to a number of different strains of Neisseria meningitidis has been elucidated. Methylation analysis, specific degradations, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic analysis of the dephosphorylated cores indicated tha
