β¦ Synopsis
NBUC class life distributions are dealt with in this paper. Firstly, a lower bound of the reliability function based upon mean and variance (both assumed ΓΏnite) is presented. It is shown that the bound e ectively improves "known bounds" for NBU life distributions. Secondly, a su cient condition characterized by the excess lifetime at t ΒΏ 0 in a renewal process is obtained. In e ect, the decreasing in convex ordering of excess lifetime may result in NBUC interarrivals. Finally, we prove that the NBUC class is preserved under the formation of the parallel system.

Since Klefsj6 (1983) defined and investigated the 55-class of life distributions, this class has attracted a great deal of attention. In this paper, we first clarify the existing characterizations of the 55-class. Then we apply these results to estimate the moments of distributions in 55 and to char
