β¦ Synopsis
Since Klefsj6 (1983) defined and investigated the 55-class of life distributions, this class has attracted a great deal of attention. In this paper, we first clarify the existing characterizations of the 55-class. Then we apply these results to estimate the moments of distributions in 55 and to characterize the exponential distribution.

NBUC class life distributions are dealt with in this paper. Firstly, a lower bound of the reliability function based upon mean and variance (both assumed ΓΏnite) is presented. It is shown that the bound e ectively improves "known bounds" for NBU life distributions. Secondly, a su cient condition char
