The contour invariance of J-integral and the strain distribution in the plastic region near the crack tip were experimentally investigated within the deformation theory of plasticity. The relationship between criteria of non-linear fracture mechanics is determined. The possibility of re-calculation of the &-value in fracture toughness K,, on account of specimen thickness changes is studied.

## Abstract This paper presents an enriched meshless method for fracture analysis of cracks in homogeneous, isotropic, non‐linear‐elastic, two‐dimensional solids, subject to mode‐I loading conditions. The method involves an element‐free Galerkin formulation and two new enriched basis functions (Typ
