Some results obtained by gas chromatography and high-pressure liquid chromatography in vitamin A analysis are given. In. particular, it was demonstrated that high-pressure liquid chromatography surpasses gas chromatography as an analytical tool for this application.

The application of high-pressure gas chromatography using columns with an I.D. of 1 .O mm, packed with small porous particles (below 60 pm), coated with a nonpolar or polar stationary liquid, is described. Plots of the theoretical plate height as a function of the mobile phase velocity demonstrate
