Part I
The approach to design and manufacturing is evolving rapidly with a growing set of technologies and tools for conceptualizing, building, distributing, and supporting new processes and products. By the same token, this proliferation of technology and tools has greatly increased the complexity of making sound judgments in all these areas. Reviewing these complexities and possible roadmaps to alleviate them could be invaluable to academicians and industrialists alike. In this vein, we proposed a few discussion topics last year in a "call-for-papers" on new trends in product and process development such as:

In recent years, full-shaped door trim has rapidly taken the place of flat-shaped trim. The competition for good design appearance and weight reduction has produced many processes for full-shaped door trim. We have developed a new door trim production system, the light weight reinforced-reaction inj
