A simple five-step conversion of 12-ketosteroids into 11 p-hydroxy compounds (and also 11-ketones) through 11 p, 12B-epoxides is described. The process can be accomplished with high yields, as it is shown in the present paper dealing with the application to hecogenin acetate.
