✦ Synopsis

The components of the solubility parameters of some polyols have been determined. The determination is based on the use of three mixtures of solvents. For each mixture, the point of maximum interaction between the mixture and the polyol was obtained from the maximum value of the intrinsic viscosity. The calculation of the solubility parameter components is based on the application of the three points of maximum interaction for each examined polymer. The following components of solubility parameters and total parameters have been obtained; for poly(ethylene oxide): 6a = 17.3 _+ 2, 6p = 3.0 + 1, 6 h = 9.4 + 0.5, 6o = 19.0 +_ 2.2, for poly(propylene oxide): 6h = 16.3 + 1, 6p = 4.7 + 0.5, 6 h = 7.4 + 0,5, 6 0 = 18.5 _+ 1.2, for poly(ethylene adipate): 6 d = 16.3 :i: 2, 6p = 6.1 + 0.5, 6 h = 9.4 :t: 0.1, 6 0 ~ 19.8 _+ 2 with units (J/ml) I/2.

We consider the problem of estimating a p-dimensional parameter y ¼ ðy 1 ; y; y p Þ when the observation is a p þ k vector ðX ; UÞ where dim X ¼ p and where U is a residual vector with dim U ¼ k: The distributional assumption is that ðX ; UÞ has a spherically symmetric distribution around ðy; 0Þ: Tw
