Software Reviews

Recent technological advances in computer hardware have brought about dramatic changes in management practice. In particular, the rapid development of a multiplicity of microcomputers has led to an explosion in the number of packages available. In response to this, the Journal of Forecasting now includes a separate section concerned specifically with forecasting software. The information summarized for each package is deliberately descriptive, with general criteria being chosen to document salient features of interest and practical experiences of its use. Prior to publication all reviews are sent to the appropriate software house for comment.

We welcome the constructive suggestions of both users and producers in developing this section as a serious, objective forum for disseminating information on this increasingly important aspect of forecasting practice and research.
