โฆ Synopsis
In two previous papers (Castle, '29, '31) I have described some results of an experiment designed to test the hypothesis that racial body size in a mammal is influenced by chromosomal genes. This is a final report upon the experiment. It consisted in a cross between two races of rabbits very different in size. The small race, derived from the Polish breed, weighs about 1500 p. when adult; the large race, derived from the Checkered Giant breed, weighs between 5000 and 6000 gm. when adult. They differ in four color characters which are known to be inherited independently, the genes for which must accordingly be located in different chromosomes. The large race is intense pigmented gray English (ADEEn) ; the small race is non-agouti dilute yellow non-

In a previous paper we have described a difference in rate of growth between eggs from a large race of rabbits and those 'from a small race. Eggs were obtained as early as forty-eight hours and as late as 168 hours after copulation. Stages between these limits were also studied. At the time of ovul
Racial differences in stature and other external features are well recognized in man and in domestic animals, but comparatively few data have been found in the literature on organ size in large and in small animals of closely related races. Differences in embryonic growth in large and in small race
