✦ Synopsis
Enamel contains calcium phosphate in a crystalline form; it is the hardest biologically manufactured substance, and is produced by ameloblasts prior to tooth eruption. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the morphology of the enamel prisms and their relationship to Hunter-Schreger bands in the dog canine and molars teeth by polarization microscopy. The photomicrographs were analyzed with Fourier spectral analysis. The results suggest that the Hunter-Schreger bands (parazones and diazones) were thicker in the canine teeth in comparison to the molar teeth. However, the prisms of the diazones of the canine teeth were thinner.
