During the formation of cz-SiAlON from a powder mixture wet-milled in isopropyl alcohol at a temperature of 1.500-1600°C there appears considerable amount of p-SiAlON. (LSiAlON is formed in high OL-as well as in high p-Si,N, starting powders. The P-SiAlON is dissolved at higher temperatures. The rat
