The (3000) and ( ) stretching overtone bands of silane, SiH.,, have been observed near 6362 and IO268 cm-' by Fourier transfer spectroscopy with a resolution of 0.01 cm-'. In both spectra the pseudo-symmetric-top rotational structure, similar to that observed in the (3000) band of germane, was clear

โฆ Synopsis
SiH stretching overtones have been studied in the infrared spectrum up to &J = 5 for SiH4, (CHalaSilla and (CHa)aSiH and for Au = 3 in CH$3iIIs. Tlx data for (CHs)2Si112 and (CI1~)3Sill necessitate a cubic term in the term value equation whose prcsencc can esplain the existing discordance between spectroscopically predicted and esperimental values of D&i-H) in methyl silancs. Earlier "lowl-mode" model predictions for the spectrum of Sill4 are accurate with respect to frequencies. but not to intensity. * DE,, is defined as the dissociation energy predicted by Biige-Sponer extrapolation from levels close to the potential minimum.
