Allyl isothiocyanate (AITC) was given in doses of 0, 10, 20, or 40 mg/kg (5 days/week) by oral intubation to male rats for up to 6 weeks. The highest dosage level caused a decrease in body weight, thymus weight, blood glucose and serum globulin levels. Haematological examination revealed an increase

β¦ Synopsis
Vanadium (in the form of NaV03) was given in drinking water to groups of 10 male Sprague-Dawley rats over a period of 3 months at concentrations of 0, 5 , 10 and 50ppm. Vanadium accumulated dosedependently in the kidneys and spleen. Appearance, behaviour, food and water consumption, growth and mortality of the treated rats of all groups were not affected during the 3-month period. Histopathological investigation showed only mild though dosedependent lesions in kidneys and spleen. The plasma concentrations of urea and uric acid were increased in the highest exposure groups.
Animals and chemicals
Forty male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 91.6 zt 10.8 g at the start of the experiment were used.
