A simple, approximating set of equations is derived for calculating the shear buckling loads of isosceles trapezoidal plates. A numerical example is worked for a typical plate. The result appears to be good.

β¦ Synopsis
Design curves are presented for determining the elastic buckling loads of a class of simply supported rectangular plates linearly tapered in thickness in one direction and loaded in pure shear. The problem is solved by a simple straightforward numerical method involving a very small matrix.
