A 37-year-old man investigated for infertility had bilateral atrophic testes. Cytogenetic investigations revealed a chromosome complement of 45,XO/46,Xi(Yq)/46,XY. Mechanisms for the origin of the i(Yq) are considered, and the relation of his chromosome constitution to his infertility and hypogonadi
This paper presents the clinical and cytogenetic findings in a female patient with secondary amenorrhea and normal phenotype. Some difficulties related to karyotype-phenotype correlation are discussed.
We report the prenatal findings of mos 46,XY/46,XY,i(20q) after amniocentesis. The propositus presented with two epidermal scalp scars, retrobulbar orbital cysts, and dyssegmentation of the thoracic spine. The abnormal cell line was discovered in cells cultured from the proximal umbilical cord and-b
A partial long arm deletion of one X chromosome was observed in a patient with secondary amenorrhea and with no features of Turner's syndrome. It was shown that the deleted X chromosome was the inactivated one in all metaphases of the lymphocyte culture and of the tissue culture from gonadal biopsy.
We present clinical outcome, through several years of follow-up, of 4 mentally retarded patients, each with a small interstitial deletion in the long arm of chromosome 2, within a region on which clinical reports are infrequent. Our patient 1 was found to have del(2)(q22.3q23.3); patients 2 and 3, d
