A micellar electrokinetic capillary chromatographic method for the separation of tetrahydroberberine alkaloids was established. An electrolyte solution of 0.02 M sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) in 0.03 M borate buffer (pH 9) containing 10% acetonitrile, and an applied voltage of 20 kV, were found to b

β¦ Synopsis
The enantiomeric separation of atropisomeric polychlorinated biphenyls Ε½ was studied by cyclodextrin-modified micellar electrokinetic chromatography CD-. MEKC . Four CD derivatives were investigated as chiral selectors, and 2-hydroxyl-β₯-CD gave the best resolution for the separation of PCB 84. Three organic modifiers, methanol, acetonitrile, and 2-propanol, were individually added in the separation buffer to enhance the chiral separation selectivity. The addition of organic solvent effectively increased the enantiomeric resolution. Seven pairs of Ε½ . atropisomeric polychlorinated biphenyls PCBs were simultaneously separated, and each pair achieved successful separation when 20% organic modifier was added to the separation buffer. 2-Propanol gave the best resolution among these three organic modifiers.
