Thermal initiation of mixed powders of Sr02 and titanium and/or TiE (E=02, CI3) induces a self-propagating reaction. Trituration of the product with water yielded fine crystalline particles of cubic SrTi03. Stepwise replacement of Sr02 with Ba02 in the reaction mixture generates a solid solution Srx
