✦ Synopsis

Self-concept theory is based u Ion the notion that there is a relationship between self-perce tion and bekavior. This study (N = 110) affirmed that verbal behaviors gime speaking, initiated assertions, referrals received and first-person statements) were related to self-traits as measured by personality measures (16PF, locus of contrd, Self-Esteem Inventory) and a subjective self-report. The results are indicative of a proactive-reactive dimension of social interaction from both self and behavioral prospectives.
