✦ Synopsis

Evidence is presented for selectivity in the reaction of metaphosphate, W I -, with methanol in preference to t-butanol in acetonitrile solution. In dichloromethane so ution there is also evidence for preferential nucleophilic solvation of reactant by methanol vs. t-butanol.
