Paclitaxcl and some of its natural analogues are readily converted to their respective nitrate esters when reacted with nitric acid in acetic anhydride at 25 ° C in 30 minutes. Under milder conditions. partially esterified products can be prepared. The regioselectivity of these partial nitrations is studied.
