Two porphyrin-quaternized brucine salts 1 and 2 were immobilized on 3-mercaptopropanoic acid derivatized gold nanoparticles. The porphyrin modified nanoparticles were purified and characterized by a variety of techniques including electron microscopy and absorption spectroscopy in the UV-vis range.
