## Abstract A new application of genetic algorithms (GAs) for feed point optimization of a coaxial probe fed E‐shape microstrip patch antenna is presented. The GA shows excellent results for finding the best feed point in a given antenna structure. The method of moments is used in this paper, emplo

✦ Synopsis
The optimum feeding point for a heater-grid antenna is selected from the radiation pattern results by the NEC-2 moment-method code. A skeletal box plot is employed to measure the omnidirectional degree of the calculated radiation patterns of heater-grid antennas in the azimuthal plane. It is shown from a comparison between calculated and measured results of radiation patterns that this approach can be effec-ti¨ely utilized in the ad¨anced initial stage of the automobile body and antenna design for optimum FM reception.
