✦ Synopsis
We search for the lepton flavor-violating T + ~7 decay using 29.7 million T pairs accumulated by the Belle experiment. The main background sources are found to be r pairs with r + ~YU decay and radiative pp events. One event is observed in the signal region, while 2.5 f 0.6 background events are expected. A preliminary upper limit Br(r -+ ~7) < 6 x lo-' at the 90% confidence limit is obtained.

Recent results and the current situation on the search for lepton-flavor-violating τ decays are presented. Using data collected with the BABAR detector between 1999 and 2001, we describe a search for the neutrinoless decay τ → µγ. This data sample includes data collected both on and off the Υ (4S) resonance and corresponds to 56 × 10 6 produced tau pair events. The search has an efficiency of 5.2 ± 0.1(M
