✦ Synopsis
Recent results and the current situation on the search for lepton-flavor-violating τ decays are presented. Bfactories have successfully accumulated data samples of > 10 9 τ pairs, and recently performed searches for τ → 3 , V 0 and f0(980). The upper limit of the branching ratio was obtained to be ∼O( 10 -8 ). The results have ruled out some parts of the parameter space for the models beyond the Standard Model, such as the SUSY+seesaw mechanism.

The current status of the experimental search for lepton flavor violation in rare muon decays is reviewed. The possible benefits of increasing the muon source intensity is examined for the different experimental situations.
The lepton flavour violating decay τ → μμμ is predicted in many extensions of the Standard Model with branching ratios partially next to the current experimental upper limit of 3.2 × 10 -8 . Therefore, lepton flavour violating τ decays are an interessant option in search of new physics.
