โฆ Synopsis
DP Seals provides smart diaphragm for height-safety system D P Seals Ltd has manufactured a smart diaphragm for a heightsafety system developed by Limpet Technology Ltd.
The nitrile diaphragm plays a key role in the innovative control mechanism at the heart of the Limpet, a system that enables professionals to work safely high above the ground, primarily in the wind-energy industry.
The smart diaphragm provides a strong IP56 seal between a roller shaft and the chassis side wall, while ensuring minimal resistance to shaft movement. With no suitable off-the-shelf product available, Limpet Technology designed a bespoke part and chose DP Seals as the supplier.
DP Seals proposed that the double convolution, original diaphragm design could be simplified without affecting performance, and suggested further simplifications at the prototyping stage.
'We were particularly impressed with DP Seals' responsiveness, extensive materials knowledge, engineering expertise and its competitive pricing. The company also identified opportunities to simplify our design, making it easier to manufacture without compromising performance,' explained Limpet Technology's Stuart Robertson.
